MASTIC BEACH -

A Mastic woman is accused of throwing a dog out of her vehicle last Tuesday.

The accusation comes shortly after News 12's coverage of the so-called animal cruelty epidemic last week.

SPCA officials say Lorraine Caceres abandoned the 10- to 11-year-old pit bull.

She's accused of tossing the animal out of her car on Laurenton Drive in Mastic Beach.

Investigators say the dog was incredibly thin, weak and hungry.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
