More than 300 students and faculty gathered Monday night for a candlelight vigil in memory of the Elwood Middle School student who died suddenly from a seizure.

Counselors will be on hand at Elwood Middle School today after the heartbreaking loss of 14-year-old Nate Petit, whose friends nicknamed him "Nate the Great."

“Nate was a loving young man who was very positive, uplifting, a good kid,” says Petit’s family friend Ninette Solis. “It's a shame we lost him so soon.”

News 12 Long Island is told that Nate had dreams of becoming an NFL football player, but playing football was a challenge because of his seizures.

Funeral arrangements for Petit are still being made.
