An Uber driver is accused of sexually assaulting a minor in Fairfield.

Authorities say 31-year-old Dwaine Miller of Bridgeport made sexual advances toward a teen while she was in his car.

Police say the young victim called an Uber to get a ride from a party on Stonewall Lane to get to her family’s house on the east side of town.

 Since 2017, Connecticut has required Uber to bar all drivers with felony convictions in the last seven years. Miller has a history of charges including robbery and assault. His last conviction was in 2010.

 State Rep. Brenda Kupchick says the rule may not be strict enough. She says that Uber should look back farther than the seven-year requirement as imposed by the state.

 A parent of the area says that rideshare apps do have potential danger but that they are a better option than kids getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.

 A spokeswoman from Uber said in a statement, "What's been reported to police is horrible and is something no one should go through. The driver's access to the app has been removed. We will fully cooperate with the Fairfield Police Department's ongoing investigation."

 Miller is facing charges for third-degree sexual assault.
