Babylon residents: Kids riding bikes recklessly needs to stop

Babylon residents are up and arms about kids riding their bikes recklessly on Fire Island Avenue.
The residents tell News 12 something has to be done, before one of them gets hurt.
In video shot last month, a large group of kids is seen taking over an entire lane of the road, backing up traffic and coming dangerously close to moving cars.
People who live nearby say they've tried talking with the kids, and they've also notified police, but that hasn't done much to fix the problem.
Residents say what these bike riders are doing is hazardous not only for them, but also for drivers.
“I've had kids pop wheelies where they almost hit my car. I almost get into an accident, hitting a parked car or a pedestrian. It's like they take over the road on both sides. It's really disturbing and extremely dangerous,” says Eileen Berry.
Residents tell News 12 they also sent the videos to nearby schools, hoping that the districts will talk to the kids about bike safety.
Suffolk police say they're going to be monitoring social media going forward to keep an eye out for organized rides. They are urging anyone who sees a large group of bikers disturbing traffic to call 911.
