A man was in court Wednesday, accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl inside her home in Elmont.
Police say Alex Rivera, 24, assaulted the girl Sunday. The girl's father told police Rivera was a guest at a birthday party when he went into the girl's bathroom and sexually abused her.
The girl's father told News 12 he noticed around 4 a.m. that his daughter hadn't been seen in a while.
According to court documents, Rivera "proceeded to touch and kiss the victim in an unwanted sexual manner." He allegedly "did restrain the victim against a wall and prevented the victim from leaving." Police say the teen did fight back, and was eventually able to break free and run to her parents for help.
The girl's father says Rivera admitted he did it, and said it was because he was too drunk. He says he's known Rivera for about three years.
Rivera turned himself in to police Tuesday morning.
Rivera was arraigned and was held on $50,000 bail. His wife and his legal aid attorney did not comment on the case.
The 24-year-old signed an order of protection to stay away from the teen.
