Fire forces residents out of Farmingdale apartment building

FARMINGDALE -

Officials say a rooftop fire forced out the people who live in a Farmingdale apartment building.

The fire department was called shortly after 4 p.m. Monday when someone nearby saw smoke billowing from the roof of the Cornerstone Apartments.

No one was hurt, but three apartments on Elizabeth Street were damaged.

There is no official cause yet of the fire, but firefighters say it is a good reminder about the importance of keeping rooftops clear of debris.
