Police say a homeless man was nabbed by neighbors and caught with a stolen safe Sunday afternoon.
Neighbors say they noticed a taxi in the driveway of another neighbor's home on Gladysz Way and realized it was being burglarized.
Police have identified the suspect as Frank Beinlich, 33. They say he was seen leaving the home with a safe, jewelry, small electronics and clothes around 5 p.m.
Police say he hailed a taxi to leave with the stolen items. Neighbors say they tackled Beinlich and held him until police arrived.
Police say they were searching for suspects who stole a car earlier in the day and realized Beinlich was one of them.
The homeowner, who was away for the weekend, tells News 12 he is grateful for what his neighbors did.
Police say Beinlich has a lengthy criminal record and served time in prison on attempted burglary and drug charges.
Beinlich is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on this latest burglary charge.
