Storms sweep over Suffolk with ferocious winds, hail

Severe storms raked over parts of Long Island this afternoon, packing ferocious winds, hail, lightning and heavy rain.
The National Weather Service confirmed that there is straight-line wind damage in parts of Suffolk County, but said that it sees no evidence of tornado rotation from today's storms.
The service had issued multiple severe thunderstorm warnings for swaths of Suffolk County through the day Sunday as fast-moving storms swept through.

Downed trees and branches have been reported in places like Commack and Dix Hills from earlier storms. And LIRR service was halted on multiple branches due to storm-related issues.
