Whole Foods has inked an exclusive deal with British company Meatless Farm to sell its vegan burgers. Meatless Farm also announced it will open an office in New York City to manage its expansion into the U.S. It is currently available in Canada, the UAE, Hong Kong and Sweden. This is a hit to major competitor Beyond Meat as the vegan market continues to heat up.
Amazon is looking to disrupt the beauty aisle. The e-commerce giant has launched a beauty store for professionals. It will offer supplies for stylists, barbers and beauticians that are usually found in salons or spas. Amazon says this will let the professionals find what they need online, freeing up more time for their customers. Shares of traditional beauty retailers Ulta and Sally fell on the news. This is the latest move by Amazon to move into a niche market. Last year, shares of pharmacy chains like CVS and Walgreens plunged when Amazon stepped into the online pharmacy market by buying Pillpack.
Convenience store 7-Eleven will deliver your Slurpee right to your beach chair. The 7-Now app lets customers choose a delivery location where an address isn't an option, like a public park, beach or concert venue. The convenience store chain says most orders will arrive in 30 minutes or less.
