STONY BROOK -

A power outage Thursday night at Stony Brook University Hospital left some people trapped inside an elevator.

The outage drew a large fire rescue response shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Rob Albert, of Centereach, says he suddenly found himself in a dark hospital hallway. He compared it to a zombie apocalypse.

Stony Brook University sent a statement saying power was restored by 8:30 p.m. and that "patient care was not compromised."

There's no word yet on what caused the outage.
