A new exhibit is showing the impact of local journalism throughout the city.

For the first time, the New York Times has opened “The Truth is Local” exhibit.

Organizers say the idea is to get people to understand the important role local journalism continues to have in the lives of New Yorkers.

It is a storefront exhibit that is on display in all five boroughs, with each one highlighting one story that has had a significant impact in that section of the city.

The showcase in Brooklyn is at 400 Atlantic Ave. in Boerum Hill. It focuses on how the work of Frances Robles helped free a dozen inmates wrongfully convicted of murder.

Her investigation revealed how a well-known homicide detective and the district attorney's office used a number of illegal practices, including fake confessions, to put innocent men behind bars.

The storefront exhibit will be on display through the end of June.
