A Bellmore restaurant is coming to the aid of a chef who is battling cancer.

A fundraiser was held Sunday at the 3rd Rail Bar and Grille for chef and kitchen manager Peter Morris.

Morris was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and also needs brain surgery.

His coworkers say they want to help however they can.

"It's just one of those things where you wonder why things happen to such nice people," says owner Jim Flood. "But unfortunately, I guess that's just part of life and were just all trying to be as supportive as we can for Pete and his family and what they're going through."

All proceeds from today's event will go to Peter and his family.
