Police: Lyft driver accused of driving with 17 license suspensions

Police say a Lyft driver on Long Island is accused of driving with a license that had been suspended over a dozen times.
Suffolk police say they stopped Leith Crossen Saturday night near the Cold Spring Harbor train station on Woodbury Road after getting a 911 call for a possibly intoxicated driver. They say Crossen was not drunk -- but was driving with 17 license suspensions.
Crossen, of New Jersey, faces felony charges.
In a statement, Lyft says, "Safety is fundamental to Lyft and we take these allegations extremely seriously. The driver's license this individual provided when applying to drive with Lyft did not show any disqualifying driving records. He has not driven on the Lyft platform since April and is permanently banned from driving with Lyft."
Lyft adds that Crossen passed a background check and a DMV check in March 2019.
