A school crossing guard in Cranford is out of the hospital after being struck by a driver while stopping traffic for a student.

A school crossing guard in Cranford is out of the hospital after being struck by a driver while stopping traffic for a student.
The incident happened Thursday around 8:07 a.m. at the intersection of Walnut and Blake avenues.
According to police, the crossing guard was stopping traffic for a student when he was hit by a 2003 Cadillac being operated by an 86-year-old man from Union County.
Police say the school crossing guard suffered injuries from the crash and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
He was equipped with both a traffic vest and stop paddle.
Charges are pending at this time.
