Traffic detail added to City Island ahead of summer rush

There's some good news for City Island residents and visitors: the crowded summer destination is getting a traffic detail just in time for the busy season.
The plan will see Department of Transportation personnel and police officers directing and expediting cars that are heading to and from the island. They will be in place during peak hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays all season long.
A meeting on the issue was held at City Councilman Mark Gjnonaj's office with the City Island Civic Association, 45th Precinct Commanding Officer Tom Fraser and Bronx DOT Commissioner Nivardo Lopez.
It marked a culmination after many different groups came together, with community members lobbying to get their traffic woes addressed.
