A beloved FDNY captain from Long Island received special honors Saturday posthumously.
The Town of Babylon is renaming part of Long Island Avenue in Deer Park for John Vigiano Sr.
After a decorated military career, Vigiano joined the FDNY in 1962 and retired in 1998.
He passed away last year after a battle with cancer.
Vigiano's sons, one a firefighter and the other a police detective, were killed responding to the 9/11 attacks.
