Suffolk police say a group of officers rescued a family of ducklings from a storm drain in Lindenhurst Friday morning.
First Precinct officers responded to South 15th Street and West Hoffman Avenue around 7:15 a.m. after a 911 caller reported that the ducklings fell into the drain. The caller said the mother duck stood at the top of the drain when the ducklings had tumbled inside.
The officers notified the Emergency Service Section and Babylon Highway Department.
The Babylon employees removed the grate from the top of the drain, and Emergency Service Section Officer James Brucculeri climbed in to rescue the six ducklings.
Once removed from the drain, the ducklings were reunited with their mother.
