The Oyster Bay Town Board has approved plans to build a hotel next to Jericho's Milleridge Inn.
Residents showed up Tuesday night for and against building a new Marriott Hotel in the parking lot of the Jericho Commons shopping center.
Many fear traffic gridlock, safety, and quality of life issues.
Shortly before midnight, the town board voted in favor of granting a special use permit for the developer.
Some union members are all for the project.
Supporters say the three-story hotel will bring jobs to the area.
