Police: Islip HS baseball coach inappropriately touched student

A junior varsity baseball coach at Islip High School is accused of inappropriately touching a student.
Suffolk police say Tyler Murphy, 25, inappropriately touched a female student Thursday night at the school.
Police say district officials told the school resource officer about the alleged incident, who then notified Special Victims detectives.
They arrested Murphy Friday evening in Islip, charging him with sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
News 12 went to the 25-year-old's home, but no one answered the door.
The district released a statement on its website about the coach's arrest. It says he did not work with the district outside of his coaching responsibilities, and that he will no longer serve as a coach.
Police say Murphy will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
