Computer glitch leads to extended Nassau tax grievance deadline

A computer glitch forced Nassau County to extend Tuesday's deadline to file property tax grievances.
The new deadline is now 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 3.
The change comes after online filers struggled to submit their grievances with the county Assessment Review Commission's website throughout the night and again on what was supposed to be the deadline day.
Some posted on the Assessment Review Commission's Facebook page, including one person who wrote, "The site was back up but now it is down again!" Another person added, "AND...it's down again."
Residents who opted to file their grievances in person, at the commission's Mineola office, appeared to have no issues Tuesday.
Curran said officials were working with a vendor to identify the problem in an aging system.
Republican county lawmakers, who have been vocal critics of Curran's property assessment changes, say the latest issue is more proof that Curran's rollout was and remains flawed.
