A Suffolk man accused of killing a college student in a hit-and-run took a plea deal in Nassau court Thursday.

Daniel Coppolo pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Taranjit Parmar. He showed little emotion as he was lead into court.

In November 2017, prosecutors say Parmar and Coppolo got into a minor accident in Levittown. As seen in security video, they both pulled into a gas station to exchange information. But then prosecutors say Coppolo decided to speed away, but Parmar grabbed onto the door handle and was dragged.

Police found Coppolo's truck days later in a Westbury shopping center.

Parmar was an Adelphi University honors student. She died just five days shy of her 19th birthday.

Coppolo's attorney says his client has bipolar disorder and was off his medication at the time of the incident.

Parmar's family didn't comment as they left court.

With the guilty plea, Coppolo faces five to 15 years in prison. He is expected to be sentenced in June.
