The wave of the future comes to Levittown Walmart

A Walmart store on Long Island will begin using artificial intelligence technology to monitor itself.
Thousands of cameras overhead are a key feature of the new Intelligent Retail Lab.
The lab officially opens today inside Walmart's Neighborhood Market grocery store in Levittown.
The cameras can monitor product freshness. For example, they can track how ripe bananas are from their color and alert workers when they have gone bad.
The new technology can also spot spills and when shelves need to be restocked.
Walmart hopes to roll out the new technology at other stores in the next six months.
