Babylon shop keeps true to its 'reduce, reuse, refill' mantra

BABYLON -

A Babylon shop is giving new meaning to the phrase "on tap."

At O'beehave Naturals on Deer Park Avenue, organic lotions and potions for your bath, body and home are pumped into reusable containers.

Jeanine Longo says it's all about the three R's -- reduce, reuse and refill.

Longo offers personal care products like body lotions, soaps, laundry detergent and home cleaners that are formulated without harmful chemicals. The refill bottles she sells come in all shapes and sizes.

Customers can also bring in their own containers to fill.

Longo says her refill idea is ahead of the national go-green curve. Corporations like Nestle and Procter & Gamble recently started testing an idea called looping, through which products are sold in reusable containers and empties are picked up, refilled and returned.

"It all comes back to taking care of the Earth, and then the Earth takes care of us," Longo says.
