A Massapequa Park man is accused of possessing child pornography and having sex with a 13-year-old boy.
Matthew Veltri, 26, was arraigned Friday morning in Nassau County on six counts of child porn possession.
He's also wanted in Pennsylvania on charges of having sex with a 13-year-old boy. Police in Hilltown Township, Pennsylvania, say Veltri contacted the teen in March on the dating app Grinder. They say the victim told Veltri that he was 13.
Authorities say Veltri on three occasions made the more than 120-mile drive to Hilltown from Long Island to meet the boy. Police say they had sex inside his car and at a hotel.
News 12 spoke with an officer who says a family member found texts and a video on the child's phone -- the video showing an older male shirtless in a hotel.
Veltri lives on Ocean Avenue in Massapequa Park, located near a school and in a neighborhood filled with kids. Nassau police searched the home two days ago after getting a tip from police in Pennsylvania. According to court documents, Veltri's computer allegedly contained six images of child pornography, including pictures and videos of boys and girls ranging in age from 6 to 13.
A man inside Veltri's home wouldn't answer the door Friday afternoon.
Veltri will be extradited to be Pennsylvania to face charges there. He's currently being held without bail in Nassau.
Police say it's possible that Veltri preyed on others.
