LIRR riders to see increase in cost of commute

Starting Sunday, it will cost more to ride the Long Island Rail Road.
Daily train tickets are going up anywhere from 25 cents to $1.25 for one-way rides because of MTA fare hikes.
Weekly tickets will go up by as much as $4.50.

The 4-percent fare hike won't affect monthly ticket holders until next month.

And because Nassau's county bus system uses MetroCards, those riders will also see increases.

The change also means subway riders will be paying more.
