More than 75,000 students across Long Island opted out of a state English language exam, according to Newsday.
Newsday says its survey showed the opt-outs amounted to 47.2 percent of students eligible to take the English Language Arts test in grades three through eight.
Experts say the level of boycotts shows that opposition to state tests remains strong on the Island.
Districts started giving the digital ELA test on April 1.
