Police: Homeless woman struck by hit-and-run driver in Medford

Police say a homeless woman was mowed down by a vehicle and left for dead Wednesday morning in Medford.
A neighbor called 911 to report the incident just before 6 a.m. on Norfleet Lane.
Police say 30-year-old Olivia Thornton was sitting in the roadway for nearly a half-hour before she was hit by a dark-colored pickup truck. They say several drivers went around her as she sat in the street, thinking "she was a bag of leaves."
Nearby surveillance cameras captured the hit-and-run.
Authorities say Thornton was critically injured and underwent several surgeries.
