Tulip Caterers, a Franklin Square mom-and-pop business that has been a neighborhood staple for three decades, may be forced to shut its doors.

Vinny Giordano, who started the family deli with his father, says he was crushed when he learned a 7-Eleven would take over his spot at the end of his lease.

Several customers had a similar reaction, saying there are already plenty of 7-Elevens throughout Long Island.

Giordano says he's ready to fight the closure and has garnered over 1,000 signatures on a petition from customers for whom he spent years catering important family events. He says he's grateful for all the support.

A representative for the landlord tells News 12 that Giordano was given two years at a discounted rent rate to find a new location.

On Wednesday, there will be a hearing on several variances that must be approved by the Town of Hempstead for the 7-Eleven to open.

In the 1960s, Tulip Caterers had previously been a 7-Eleven.
