Nassau County is taking steps to opt out of legalized marijuana.

Nassau's Rules Committee and Health and Social Services Committee voted Monday not to have legal marijuana sales.

The bill will go to the full Nassau legislature later this month. If the state approves legal recreational marijuana, municipalities can opt out.

Opponents worry about crime, traffic accidents and other quality of life issues.
