Prosecutors: Elmont man had illegal weapons, 5 ammunition feeding devices

The Elmont man accused of firing 14 shots from an illegally modified machine gun in his backyard Sunday night was arraigned in Hempstead court this morning.
Prosecutors say 49-year-old Robert Hoenig was also in possession of five high-power ammunition feeding devices, which are illegal to own.
Nassau County's elite BSO team approached the home with guns drawn on Monday. Hoenig, eventually surrendered to police.
Officers were seen taking boxes of what appeared to be weapons and ammunition out of the house on Clay Street.
The judge set his bail at $200,000 or $100,000 cash bond.
