There's an effort underway to save a historic Suffolk church that dates back more than a century and is in need of repairs.
Supporters of the nearly 130-year-old United Methodist Church in the Village of Patchogue are working to raise funds to renovate the house of worship. It needs $350,000 for emergency repairs due to water damage, but the pastor says it's really in need of $2 million to fully restore the landmark church.
Rain and snow leaked through the church's bricks, causing damage to its ceiling and walls.
The church, which also serves as a food pantry and a clothing closet, has received some donations from charities and its congregation, but it has not been enough.
Donations are being accepted at a GoFundMe page.
