OSSINING, N.Y. -

A Valley Stream man was arrested in Westchester County for allegedly scamming seniors across the country.

Police say Jasuan Butler Pope told a Texas grandmother her grandson had been arrested and that she needed to send money to an address in Ossining.

News 12 is told that the suspect pulled off a similar scam on a grandfather in Missouri.

Police say they set up a sting in Ossining to nab Pope. They told the Texas victim to send a third package to the vacant Ossining address, where police were waiting for Pope.

Overall, police say Pope took nearly $30,000 from his victims.

Pope was held at Westchester County Jail. He faces charges of larceny, attempted grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
