Thousands turn out for Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Thousands gathered on the "Emerald Mile" in Yonkers Saturday for the 64th annual McLean Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The event honors the contributions of the Irish community.
A sea of green could be seen throughout the parade, as bagpipe performers, Irish step dancers and various Irish associations walked the mile for all to see and enjoy.
Local restaurants prepared to serve the thousands of paradegoers.
Chef Benny Roddy, of Rory Dolan's Restaurant and Bar, said he prepared for more than a week.
"It's family and a happy day…That should be what life's about," said one Yonkers resident.
The parade began at 1 p.m. at McLean Avenue and Bronx River Road.
