A 28-year-old man from Wyandanch was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning following a fight in a parking lot, police say.
Authorities say Kawon Williams was involved in a fight between two groups of people in the rear parking lot of BrewHaus Pub on North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst. They say he was then struck by a vehicle that fled the scene around 4:52 a.m.
Williams, a father of three, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
His family spoke with News 12 Saturday and urged the driver to come forward.
"This guy just hit him, left him for dead in the street like a dog, and now my son…His life is over. It's over," said Mary Merchant, the victim’s mother.
Neisa Jordan told News 12 that she was with Williams when he was struck. She says she tried to revive him.
“He was gone, so I did as much as I could do," she said.
She says the car that hit him was a dark-colored sedan.
The family says they need justice for Kawon, who was also known as Kay-Kay and Magic.
Police are urging anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
