Run honors LI native killed in Parkland shooting

A tribute event was being held in Florida Sunday for a Long Island native who was among those killed in the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The second annual Run 4 Scott Beigel kicked off this morning.

Beigel died while protecting his students from a mass shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Beigel was the cross country coach at the school. His team organized today's event.

News 12 is told more than 500 people registered for the run. Among those who crossed the finish line was Beigel's mother, Linda Beigel-Schulman.
