Officials say a police officer was hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Brentwood Friday night.

Police: Suffolk officer struck by ‘suspicious’ vehicle; no arrests
Officials say a police officer was hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Brentwood Friday night.
The incident happened at 11 p.m. on Peterson Street.
Police say the officer was responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle and walked up to the car on foot. They say the dark-colored vehicle pulled away and struck the officer.
The driver fled the scene, sparking a chase. Police say the suspect hasn't been apprehended. News 12 is told the car was last seen heading north on Route 111.
Sgt. Jeffrey Walker says the car they are looking for has out-of-state plates.
Police say the officer, a 16-year veteran of the force, was treated for minor injuries and released from Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
