5th day of deliberation yields no verdict in Mangano corruption retrial
No verdict was reached Thursday in the corruption retrial of former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and his wife, Linda.
A sixth day of deliberations is expected to proceed Friday.
A note came from the jury Thursday morning, asking for the testimony from two of the prosecution's witnesses. On Tuesday, they asked for transcripts from three witnesses related to the loans to restaurateur Harendra Singh that were backed by the Town of Oyster Bay.
Prosecutors say Mangano was receiving payoffs from Singh in exchange for his political clout. He is accused of bribery, conspiracy and extortion.
Linda Mangano is accused of lying to the FBI and obstructing justice.
The Manganos spent much of the day in the court's cafeteria speaking with friends and supporters.
