New ‘Game of Thrones’ trailer sets up epic battle; Stark, Lannister alliance?

Posted: Updated:

Game of Thrones fans didn’t need a groundhog to predict the weather last month. They knew winter was arriving on April 14.

In the latest trailer released Tuesday, the armies of the living and the dead meet on the battlefield in what will surely be an epic ending to the series.

The eighth and final season will only be six episodes long, but they are each getting the movie treatment, according to exiting HBO CEO Richard Plepler.

"It's a spectacle. The guys have done six movies," Plepler told Variety.

The trailer features all the characters you have grown emotionally attached to, as well as the Daenerys Targaryen's two remaining dragons flying over Winterfell.

This is your month warning. If you start now, you could polish off seven seasons of this show easily. So on April 14, you can turn off the final round of the Masters and flip over to HBO and know what the heck is going on. Good luck.
