Former health care worker indicted on insurance fraud charges
A former health care worker is accused of pocketing $400,000 for surgical procedures that were never performed.
The former East Setauket worker, Joseph Basile, is accused of filing fraudulent insurance claims at the private medical practice where he worked.
Prosecutors say Basile also forged his employer's signature and deposited checks into his own account.
Basile faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
