Eastport-South Manor senior tries to cap off legendary wrestling legacy

MANORVILLE -

The high school wresting state championships are this weekend in Albany, and Eastport-South Manor's Adam Busiello is trying to cap off a legendary legacy.

Busiello's wresting greatness can be seen every time he's on the mat, where he hasn't lost a varsity match in nearly three years.

His potential has earned him headlines in fourth-grade, his first national belt in sixth-grade, and a year later the only loss he's ever had in the state finals.

Adam has been awesome ever since. His 294 wins are a Long Island record.

On Saturday, the Eastport- SM senior could become the first Suffolk County wrestler and just the third kid ever to win five New York state championships.

Busiello says he's a product of hard work and among his medals are his memories of the rare matches that didn't go his way.

"Some of them aren't all winners, we still embrace that because I learned a lot from that," said Busiello.

Adam is also trying to win a state championship in his fifth  different weight class.
