Gov. Murphy declares state of emergency ahead of winter storm
New Jersey is under a state of emergency due to an impending winter storm.
Gov. Phil Murphy issued the declaration Tuesday evening.
Parts of New Jersey should see up to 4 inches of snow beginning early Wednesday afternoon, which may transition into freezing rain.
The governor encourages New Jerseyans to pay attention to forecasts, warnings, and watches.
"So we encourage people to plan ahead and consider other options such as telecommuting if possible. DOT will be coordinating with law enforcement and other transportation departments as we to with all storms to ensure the roads are safe and clear for all commuters," says Gov. Murphy.
Dozens of New Jersey schools already announced early dismissals due to the storm.
