Police: Woman beaten with bat outside Wyandanch home

Police say a man beat a woman with a baseball bat outside of a Wyandanch home last fall.
The assault, which was captured on surveillance video, happened around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, 2018.
Police say the victim did not know her attacker. But News 12 is told they met for the first time the evening prior at City Laundromat on Straight Path.
Suffolk Detective Lt. Shaun Spillane says the victim got into the suspect's white Nissan Murano and that the man began driving aggressively after a while. The woman grew scared and exited the vehicle.
Police say the victim ran to a house on Garden City Avenue, pretending to live there in hopes of ditching the suspect but he still went after her.
Spillane says the suspect pulled a metal bat, or a metal pipe bat, from his clothing and struck the woman several times. She suffered multiple contusions.
The victim's screams alerted the homeowner, who called 911. The suspect fled the scene.
Spillane describes the suspect as a black male, about 30 years old, with a thin build and standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 9 inches.
