Southampton approves ban on plastic straws, Styrofoam products

Plastic and Styrofoam products will soon be banned at eateries on the East End.

The Southampton Town Board has approved the ban on products, like plastic straws, stirrers and Styrofoam containers.

The ban will take effect May 8.

Food establishments are encouraged to start stocking up on alternatives, like cardboard, paper or bamboo products.
