Long Island residents and municipalities were busy Monday gearing up for a blast of winter weather set to hit on Tuesday.
Trio Hardware in Plainview wasn't exactly bustling with people picking up shovels and ice. Owner Ritsa Kirschner says they're not in high demand right now and that customers aren't taking the inbound storm seriously. It has been a light winter, after all.
But it was a different story outside the ShopRite in the same shopping center, where plenty of people packed up their cars with food and other goods for the storm.
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joe Saladino said crews would begin pretreating the town's 800 miles of roadway at 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Tuesday's storm is expected to bring a mix of snow, sleet and rain to Long Island.
