A woman was killed after she was struck by two vehicles in Mastic, and now police are trying to track down one driver who left the scene.
The incident happened just before midnight Saturday at the intersection of Mastic Road and Southaven Avenue.
Police say 28-year-old Masita Sayon, of Bay Shore, was crossing Mastic Road when she was struck by a 2004 Audi.
They say the driver of the vehicle stopped, but then a second vehicle hit Sayon.
Investigators say the second car briefly stayed at the scene, but then drove away.
Sayon was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Residents who live nearby say drivers frequently ignore the speed limit on Mastic Road and say crashes happen way too often.
"We live right here and we have to cross this road all the time," says Tyqune Langhorn. "Everybody crosses there who lives in this area. It's very dangerous."
Police say they are looking for an Chevy Impala that was driven by a white man.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
