A woman who lost her legs thanked the doctors who she says saved her life.
Last summer, Pat Lewis suffered a stroke and lost both her legs to diabetes. She spent months in the hospital and in rehab.
Lewis worked as a nurse and also recovered at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. She praised the physical therapists and medical staff at Lynbrook Restorative for the hours of rehab and teaching her how to use her new pair of legs.
With her new prosthetics, Lewis is now walking, climbing stairs and even dancing.
Doctors say they were surprised at how quickly Lewis was able to recover.
Lewis says she hopes to return back to Mercy Medical Center in the near future.
