Nassau, Suffolk team up for future shutdown response

Nassau and Suffolk are teaming up to figure out how to help residents in case of another federal government shutdown.
The executives of both counties announced the creation of a bi-county working group to be led by former U.S. Rep. Steve Israel.
The group will help coordinate a regional response during federal shutdowns.
President Donald Trump and congressional leaders struck a deal Friday to temporarily fund the government for three weeks. But Trump warned that the government could potentially shut down again if negotiations don’t lead to funding for a barrier along the US-Mexico border.
