Suffolk County police say a man arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Amityville called 911 after the incident.
Police say the suspect, 34-year-old Marc Cheatham, and the victim knew each other and had some sort of dispute. The shooting happened around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of South Park Place and Albany Avenue.
Police say the victim, identified as 39-year-old Michael Jackson, was found unconscious in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
Neighbors describe Cheatham as friendly and say they never had problems with him. Cheatham's brother told News 12 off camera that he's a good man who's never been in trouble before.
Police say investigators recovered what they believe was the gun used in the shooting at the suspect's home on Banbury Court.
Cheatham is due for arraignment Wednesday morning.
