District: Babylon H.S. security guard left unloaded weapon inside school

Babylon's school superintendent wrote a letter to parents saying the security guard is a retired Suffolk Police Officer and he has now been fired.

News 12 Long Island has learned a security guard at Babylon Junior-Senior High School is off the job after a gun was found inside a bathroom.
District officials say the unloaded, holstered weapon was briefly left on a countertop in a school restroom.
Babylon's school superintendent wrote a letter to parents saying the security guard is a retired Suffolk Police Officer and he has now been fired.
The letter says no students or staff were ever in danger, and that the district will review its safety protocols.
