The district attorney wants Hempstead Village to hold off on a corruption probe until two criminal cases are completed, according to Newsday.
Hempstead Deputy Police Chief Richard Holland was accused of paying a bribe to get a promotion in November.
Village Trustee Perry Pettus is accused of taking the bribe to vote for Holland's promotion.
The DA asked the village not to conduct its own internal probe until those criminal cases are completed. Both men pleaded not guilty.
Village Mayor Don Ryan says the village is complying with the DA's request.
